I feel like playing Doom Eternal without the limited ammo, which was one thing I didn’t like about Eternal. It’s fast-paced, filled with adrenaline, movement-oriented, hard, addictive and there’s also plenty of ammo. You never stop, not even a second later in the run, which I loved about the game. You also don’t have to deal with any BS stories when all you care about is running and gunning. I would recommend it to people who like movement oriented games like Ultrakill, Doom Eternal and roguelike games like Roboquest.

I also like that guns reload when you switch them. It makes you swap your weapons instead of reloading, and with weapon switching perks you can build powerful combos. I’m usually not a spell guy, so I started with movement, damage, and health perks but once I stacked spell perks, the game opened up. Frost is crazy powerful, and Aegis is great for crowd control. The weapons are also great, especially the projectile ones.

I don’t like long runs in roguelike games because my attention span is short. I prefer short runs with meta progression so I can keep playing without getting bored and frustrated. Hellbreak has good balance because you can do a few short runs every night, still make progress and come back even after a long break. It’s perfect for people that like to do a few runs every night. The music is also great, especially the last boss track in the second arena. I haven’t had any crashes or performance issues.

There are a few things that need balancing. You can purchase a second dash and increase your dash count, but it’s currently expensive. The grenade count upgrade is also expensive.

it’s worth the money. The content you are getting for the value is great. Replayability is high and as they add another level, it will be even better.

game is awesome so far, performance is great, music is incredible. some small(ish) suggestions would be:

-move the dash cooldown/count and ammo count to the center of the screen around the crosshair so its easier to keep track of or at least have something like that be an option. bottom left corner for dashes is way too far out of the way
-add achievements for getting each weapon to max level just for some more push to keep playing

There’s something really satisfying about mowing down hordes with ridiculous weapons. It’s goofy, fast, and way more fun than I expected.
